Position overview

 

We are seeking a Production Technician to join our growing team of 17 and support us in the delivery of our innovative AmpliSpec™ LAB veterinary diagnostic products. The position will primarily require the following tasks associated with production:

  • Preparing standardised buffers and other reagents for sale.

  • Stock control.

  • Document administration, including for health and safety.

  • Performing routine quality control tests.

  • Packaging products for distribution.

  • General laboratory housekeeping.

 

The role will require hands-on laboratory skills, an understanding of Microsoft Office and stock systems work. Full training in all procedures will be given, so an enthusiasm for learning in a fast-paced growing environment is essential.

You will receive a competitive salary plus additional benefits including pension and flexible hours. This is a permanent position based on a 37.5-hour week.

The role

 

Reporting to our Laboratory Manager, your primary role will be to manufacture our AmpliSpec™ LAB products in line with our sales projections. Your role will also include aspects of maintaining the smooth running of our R&D and production facilities.

Objectives
  • Liaise with R&D team to ensure effective transfer of AmpliSpec™ LAB products to manufacture.

  • Manufacture AmpliSpec™ LAB products to defined quality standards to meet our sales projections.

  • Ensure the R&D laboratory and production facility are clean and tidy at all times – understanding Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) requirements.

  • Support implementation of enterprise resource planning and quality management systems.

  • Work closely with the Laboratory Manager to ensure smooth running of lab.

Responsibilities

  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to manufacture, package and perform quality control assays of AmpliSpec™ LAB products.

  • Assist in the writing of SOPs for any new processes that are required for manufacturing.

  • Work closely with the Operations team to implement and run the Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) system and complete regular stock checks.

  • Ensure good communication within the manufacturing team to achieve set goals.

  • Use SOPs to prepare buffers and other reagents for use in the laboratory, whilst keeping regular checks on materials to ensure minimum stock requirements are always met.

  • General laboratory cleaning.

  • Disposal of all hazardous waste.

  • Incoming and outgoing goods control

  • Communicate clearly with the Laboratory Manager at all times

  • Any other duties as defined by Biotangents from time to time and as needs dictate.

The following would additionally be desirable:

  • Previous experience working within a laboratory.

  • Previous experience in preparing standardised buffers following SOPs.

  • An understanding of how MRP systems work.
