Biotangents wins ‘Innovation Award’ at Animal Health Innovation Europe

25 February 2021

Biotangents have been selected by an international panel of experts as the winner of the ‘production animal’ Animal Health Innovation Award 2021 at Animal Health Innovation Europe organised by Kisaco Research.

The premier investment forum showcases the most exciting innovation in animal health and nutrition, connecting emerging companies with financial investors and strategic corporate partners.

More than 50 start-ups entered the competition and were divided into two distinguishable sections: companion animal & pet care and production animal.

The event consisted of a pitch presentation by Director of Commercialisation, Rachel Mallet, followed by a ‘dragons panel’ comprising industry experts in animal health. This dragons panel consisted of Simon Doherty (Veterinary surgeon & One Health & Sustainability expert), Laëtitia Gerbe, (Partner, Seventure), Joost Matthijssen (Director of Venturing, Nutreco) and Patricia Barclay (International Life Science lawyer and Business Mentor).

Companies were judged not only on their presentation but on the strength of the company and its technology, their strategic goals, their advantages over competitors, and their proposition to end users and investors.

Biotangents succeeded due to the potential of our Moduleic Sensing™ platform technology to facilitate personalised medicine on the farm and in the clinic to improve sustainability and welfare. The judges were also impressed with our future product pipeline.

Alan Hale, CEO, commented: “Being selected as a finalist in the Animal Health Innovation Showcase has provided a fantastic opportunity for us to share with industry our proprietary solution for improving mastitis management. Winning the award is a testament to the significant efforts made by the whole team over a difficult year. We’re hugely excited about the potential our platform can achieve.
